The mourning forest (殯の森)

There is another very fine film which I watched recently at the Asian film festival. It won the award for the best director in this Cannes and I can easily understand why. It deals with the relationship between a care-taker and her "patient", an old man with a childish heart who still remember/mourning about his wife who passed away 33 yrs ago. Almost like a road moive, most part of the films are shot inside this beautiful forest landscape (as the title suggest), since this is where the old man's wife had buried. Through this journey of going to the wife's grave, their relationship had transformed from not understanding/trusting each other to finally able to help each other to heal each their sorrows (the nurse also had a tragic past)

This minimalistic film as the story was told with great power. I was so touched by the simple use of piano music as the main theme.
