Monkey disease
This is going to be a long one.
A couple of days ago, a very good firend of mine had sent me a script which she co-wrote with another friend. It is for some sort of competitions. I took a look and I was hooked..but only for the first few pages. I realise it was a bit too over the place after reading the whole script. My friend knows me well as a film buff so she asks if she and her friend can talk over some of thing I found from the script. I must either have too much time at work or my weaken body wasn't allowed me to concentrate on anything boring/mudune. So I spend half of my day re-work apart script for them. I enjoy quite a lot during the process of writing. It may due to the fact that I look at numbers all the time that I sorrowfully miss the joy of writing something up, esp. related to movie/film.
The story was about a early's 20 guy turned in a Monkey because of some sort of mysterious reason. I only rewrote a small part of it, and it is starting from when he turned into a monkey. I guess that's where I found the original script not doing enough. If you are interested, you can feel free to drop by ur idea, as to how this story to lead to....

After XC becomes a monkey, everyone else try to contain him within the office. Lisa tries to grab his leg while others try to press on the desk. A male colleague rush towards him, only fall on the ground as he steps on banana skin. Yet XC, as active as any monkey, are simply too quick for any one to grab him. Rather, XC starts biting Lisa on her arm and makes her scream. No one else had the courage to confront him again and XC use this gap to jump out from the windows. Everyone stunned as to what happened to XC and only able to stir at the broken windows, while Lisa, sitting on XC's chair, is doing nothing but her body is shaking amid the fear..her arm is bleeding with a visible scar.
It was an empty park at the night time. Seems not the place for anyone to stay as all the ppl would have been back to their homes to sleep or worse still, working in their offices. A full moon lights up the park, only to be blocked partially by some drifting clouds and in middle of it, a big tree (can be more specific) must be sitting there for the last 100 yrs. The moon light shines on its strong branches as usual, only tonight on top of the branches; there is something on top of it. A big shadow starts moving quickly, jumping from one branch to the next. It finally jump out and fall onto the ground. It was XC! Still with his dirty/torn clothes on, he seems like searching for food, or more specifically, for bananas. A large black dog walks towards him and begins to smell him. XC tries to tell him off but he lost his language skill completely so he can only make simple "yi" or "oh" sound. He thought he is saying "go away, you filthy dog" but definitely doesn't sound like he is. The dog hit back with louder bark and begin to bite at him, XC had to run away to escape but got nowhere to go to since all the gates are closed at the time. So he finds another smaller tree and begins to climb on it. He was amazed as to how much his climb skill had become nowadays. The dog obviously could not follow but still barking loudly towards him. It was at this moment when XC hears a voice from one of the branches; "follow me and jump to the furthest tree in the park, then dog will not able to smell you". An arm started to grab him at the same time. XC and this "thing" then start jumping around from one tree to the next, until they reach this very remote one.
The moonlight shines even brighter now as the clouds clear up. XC finally realize it was another "human monkey" who looks similar to him had save him from the dog attack. He tries to thank him but he know he lost the ability to speak. So he can only say "ohoh", yet, (from the subtitle), the other human monkey, which is a older but slimmer monkey understand and reply him; "No need to say thanks, just don't disturb me at my sleep any more." XC then begins to know that he also understand what he said, so he began to ask, why is he becoming a monkey? Old monkey replies, "I can't quite remember, it seem to be a long time". XC then ask, "why are u staying here, why don't you go somewhere to get cure from it?" Old monkey then say, "are you kidding? They can never cure me from this. I can't go home to see my family because I will get caught, I can't go to the mountain and become the real monkey because I miss them. XC nod and understand his dilemma. The old monkey then say to him, u can stay here for the night but need to go tomorrow cos u start alerting others already. Monkey like you doesn't do any good in terms of giving others some privacy!
Meanwhile, the big black dog runs back toward the main gate of the park. We soon realized it is not just a wondering dog but a police dog. A police unit, already standby at the gate and ready for action; starting in front of this league of police are Chief commander Lee! A tall and strong man in a full body raincoat , very serious looking man, standing beside him was officer Chen, a much shorter person who have an attitude of trying to impress his boss. As they see the dog coming back, Chen offers his "advice" to Lee; He must be inside, let's go and catch him before he escape. Lee, looking onto the big tree in the park, replies "No, we wait until tomorrow morning, We will however seal off the area tonight and not even an incest can come out from this area. I need the medical team, the SWAT team and psychiatrists here asap, ready for action in the morning. Do you copy?" "Yes sir ", as replied by Chen and off he goes. Lee, meanwhile, continues to look on as he seems to think of an incident. His face looks anxious and certainly anything but comfortable.
A gloomy afternoon, dust in the air as the sun light shines in, In come Chief commander Lee walking at a very quick pace toward a glass door. Indeed, it was the same glass door from XC's office. He open the door and see a bunch of terrified employees, also a couple of police officers. One of them starts reported to him; Chief Lee, we don't call you if this is not urgent. It was your wife. She was bitten by one of the employees who became a monkey and jumped out from the windows. She was at first in shock but then loses all sense of communications, and become acting like a monkey as well. The employees then lock her up into this room and she starts jumping around and throws things around! Luckily we contained her before she can escape!
Lee tries to take a peep from the small window on the door. There she is, his wife Lisa, acting like a mad person with mental problem. Instead of feeling angry and shock what happen to his wife, he actually feels a bit weird..to see his bad temper wife, acts like a monkey now.
It is in the early hrs of the morning yet outside the park, everyone from the officer to SWAT team members are all standing by, ready for actions . A white coupe stops just outside the seal off line. Stepping out from the car is a lady, in her late 20's. Both young and mature, a rare combination, she is beautiful although it is her inter-beauty that makes ppl take notice of her. This independent and caring, full of energy character looks certainly raised some eyebrows. Officer Chen is one of them and he walks toward Chief Lee, which is just stand in front of the command unit car, to alert him about the arrival this lady. Lee replies, "so finally she is here, just barely on time". He turns around and shows off his fake smile to this lady, "Ms. Jana, we met again, I am glad u can make it", "Please, call me Jana, as my patient would call me", replied by this young lady. Jana then ask; what exactly is your plan? Are you trying to capture it using force? I don't believe this is the correct thing to do. These are patients who need medical treatment, they are not animals. We will do what ever we need to catch them. My wife is bitten by one of them and I am anxious as you to find the cure for him and for my wife, answered coolly by Lee. Lee went on and said; "After all, you can't do much to cure her last nite at the hospital, right?" Jana looks on bravely although Lee is speaking the truth. Indeed, she can't do anything with Liza, who is under her observation.
All of a sudden, there are barking noises around the area. Lee heard that and shout, "let's go, everybody". All squads run toward the park where the dogs are located. Jana was standing there helplessly, watching all of the others went in. The sun, which had now completely risen, shine on Jana, causing a long shadow.
XC (back in a human) woke up on a sunny morning from his bed naturally. Feeling energized and ready to go, the TV is still showing the master teaching. He was as usual going into his bathroom and washes his face. Only this time, he found that the more he washes, the dirtier his face is. In fact, it was so dirty that it becomes clearer that he is turning back to his monkey mode again. He looks shocked and rushes out of the bathroom and go back to his room, try to find some towels to rub off the dirt. But instead of walking, he begins to run/jump like monkey, and he reaches the drawer which is underneath the TV, he realize the TV no longer showing the master teaching but a bunch of dogs barking wildly. He screams "help!" but barking noise so loud that he wants to switch off the TV, only realize he could not.
XC woke up again, only this time it was on a branch of the tree. What happened was a dream but the dog barking is real. The Old monkey woke up as well and jumped towards to him and say; "You, always bring me trouble! Look at them now, they are all over the place. Quick, let's go. They jumped of the trees and within a few moments, the police come in and they almost bump into each others. Some of the officers from the background shouted; "Freeze! We are not going hurt you!" Yet, a lot of them, including Officer Chen, already draw out their guns. XC and the old monkey keep running and finally reach the fences. Old monkey said to XC, "you, let me help you to jump off the fence first, I know this place backwards, they can never catch me". XC nodded and starts climbing. He almost reaches the top of the fence when he heard a "bang" sound! Then he felt someone is pushing him over the other side of the fence. It was Old monkey and the person who shot him was Chen! He must have thought that can impress Lee! Old monkey was slowly lying down on the back of the fence. XC is already on the other side and so he doesn't know what happen. He keeps running as he reaches the main gate. There are no guards there because all of them could have gone inside the park. Only Jana is there now as she anxiously waiting for the operation's outcome. She is so shock to see XC. XC walks toward her and look at her closely, with curiosity.
"Freeze, don't move!" An officer shouts toward XC while he tries to pull out his gun in a very clumsy way. XC then quickly grab Jana's arm. Jana shouted, "Don't shoot!!!! He is not going to hurt me, you are only scaring him!" XC then drag Jana out from the park area as the officers there don't dare to shoot, afraid that it may hurt Jana. They flee without too much of a hassle from the police and medical stuff.
Lee, meanwhile was looking at the dead old monkey while the other officers are taking evidence from him. He stared at Chen and shout at him: "Who ask you to shoot? Did I say that?? U scares them off and now not only realizes there is more than one of them existing, but we let the most important go too! Are you out of your mind??" Chen was in a damage control mode. From the radio that Lee carries, he listens to message and he rush out from the scene and run towards the main gate again. When he reaches the main gate, an office reports to him, "Sir, he was there, he hold up Ms. Jana and they flee from that direction. We can't shoot because it was too dangerous as we may hurt Ms. Jana." Lee asked anxiously, "Where did they go???"
The officer report, I saw them walk towards Ms. Jana's car and they hop into car. They then drove off to the mountain area. We have already informed all the other polices about this and tell them to keep an eye on the couple. Lee then look at the "chaos" that this monkey had created. Many of the reporters start to arrive. Lee looks at them and exhales...
