Perspolis

The animation reminds me of images from German's expressionism film. Dark, serious yet not without its light moment, it tells a story about how an oridinary Iranian girl grows up, in a time where war and politicial conflict had dominated for most of her life. I actually find it interesting the fact that despite all her surrounding atompshere, this is a very much a every day story about how a girl (or a teenager) grows up, as if she is outside of her Iranian root. The struggle to cope with changes of herself and ppl surrounding her is almost too common. And I think this is the success of the film/animation because this essence of her life change had not been over-shadowed by the polictical message which the film wants to get through.
